Aurora

Small community with a rich history, strong community, and its own airport.

First founded as a colony lead by Wilhelm Keil, Aurora was named after Keil's daughter. The colony was known for its culture built around orchards, food, music, textiles, futniture and German Traditions.

In 1883, the colony was dissolved, and 10 years later in 1893, the City of Aurora was incorporated. In 1974, Aurora established the first historic district of its kind in Oregon.

Their history and passion for community can be felt annually durring Aurora Colony Days. An event held on the 2nd weekend of August in the City Park. More information can be found here. http://auroracolony.com/wp/

The population was 1,144 as of 2021. 

North Marion School District has a unique school system with four schools within walking distance: North Marion Primary School, North Marion Intermediate School, North Marion Middle School, and North Marion High School.
